Automated handling of sensitive products

Sensitive pharmaceutical products, such as cell and gene therapy drugs, must be stored and packaged in extreme cold.
To ensure this, systems are required in which the drug vials are labeled fully automatically and packaged according to customer-specific requirements with the utmost care in the climate chamber.

Automated storage system suitable for ultra-low temperatures

Together with our partner REFOLUTION, we presented the modular Densitiy Container Storage System (ULT HD) at the Achema 2024 trade fair in Frankfurt.

The system was developed for the automated storage of goods at temperatures as low as -75°C in order to use existing room-temperature storage rooms without structural modifications for temporary and permanent low-temperature storage. Each ULT HD system is divided into three areas: handling (filling and dispensing the warehouse), storage system (sequential) and chiller. The handling and storage system areas can be divided into different temperature ranges: handling up to -45°C and storage up to -75°C. The range of the chiller is in the room temperature range.

The ULT HD system is filled via a redundant packaging unit handling system.

The storage room is equipped with 8 roller conveyors, which are filled sequentially via a sliding door system. Further ULT HD systems can be expanded horizontally and vertically via a temperature-controlled lock system.

Both the individual ULT HD systems as well as the network of modular ULT HD systems and the control room are controlled via the ACTERE automation software.
